The new CX-5 is all about combining the efficiency and functionality that is expected from a crossover with the sporty characteristics that make it a Mazda. The 2013 CX-5 Touring AWD makes that clear in every way it performs. It is powered by the new 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G engine. Advanced technology and engineering allow a compression ratio of 13:1 with the ability to use regular 87-octane gasoline. Channeling this efficiency through the Touring AWD’s standard SkyActiv Drive six-speed automatic transmission allows a best-in-class fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway.

Control

The lightweight body’s extra-rigid construction is a beneficial factor in fuel economy and handling. It aids the independent front suspension and multi-link rear suspension to provide a comfortably sporty ride. Agile maneuvers feel natural, thanks to the body’s light weight. The Active Torque Split All-Wheel Drive system intelligently increases or decreases the torque given to each wheel depending on how much traction that wheel has on the road. Mixed with the dynamic stability and traction control systems this inspires confidence and allows easy driving no matter the road or weather conditions.

Function

Standard CX-5 features include a 5.8-inch display, iPod/USB connectivity, all power accessories, and keyless entry. The Touring adds features such as a six-way power adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog-lights, and a blind-spot warning system. Behind the front and rear seats is 34 cubic-feet of storage. This expands to a competitive 65 cubic-feet when the second-row seats are folded down. The Touring’s second row offers a versatile 40/20/40 folding pattern with one-touch technology for ease of use.
